Steering allows the tractor to turn (and attempt to avoid any unpleasant obstacles). In the maneuverability portion of the competition, this function is important! Along with Brakes, Steering is one of the less difficult to understand systems and is a great place for 1st and 2nd year members to learn about the tractor. The goal for the steering section is to have a nice and smooth steering system that will allow us to maneuver in even the tightest of spaces.
Things will break, things won’t fit. But, don’t worry too much, you can fix them!
The steering section works closely with the drive-train, frame, and electrical (if power assisted) sections in order to achieve their goals.
